We looked at other Cebu food tours, and we're so glad we chose Backstreet Academy. It was a terrific deal for the price, and our guide was fun and knowledgeable. What a fascinating and delicious way to see the city!
This was a fantastic way to safely experience the back alleys and hidden street food of Kathmandu. We selected the evening tour and we definitely did not need dinner afterwards, there was plenty of food. Thamel at that time is crazy and your feet are sharing the road with motor bikes so be careful if it is all new to you. Food is fine for children. Guide is happy to answer questions from curious tourists.
Poy Khet was a MASTER! We loved him and the time & patience he dedicated. We walked away with so much respect and appreciation for the art of stone carving - especially after our visit to Angkor Wat, this craft is truly remarkable! Everyone who visits Cambodia & the temples should make a stop here!
We had a truly wonderful experience! We received a very warm welcome when we arrived. It was greatly appreciated that we had a translator and we had fun practicing the Thai language we have learned. Everything was explained to us very clearly and once we felt comfortable we started making our pieces. (Just a heads up if you have prescription contacts wear them to class because you will need to wear the provided eyewear.) Creating our glass piece was so much fun once we got comfortable with the required hand motion. Our pieces are so cute! We will definitely take this class again and recommend friends to try it as well.
Ajay took us to some great places in Kathmandu to get some photos of people going about their everyday lives. He provided some very useful instruction to improve the quality of my photos. I look forward to putting this new knowledge to good use in all of my photography in the future
Overall - authentic, education, fun, inspiring. Sophean our host shared the past, present and future of his nation. His own stories of growing up in the village added to the authenticity. Thanks to Sophean and his team - we had a foretaste of local village life - catching local produce from the pond, rice milling and rattan weaving. The homemade lunch was awesome. All local ingredients (presumably the pineapple too:)). We also had a chance to interact with the village kids who attend English lessons at the English language centre (licensed by the local government to operate). Those who opt for this during the hot & dry season - have a pair of slippers with you so it'll be easy for you to get in and out of the pond easily. Shorts and t-shirt wear will be ideal too. Sophean provides bottled water and straw hats. Thanks and keep up the great work - Backstreet Academy , Sophean and team.
We booked this tour for our very first morning in Luang Prabang to get acquainted with the town and the local cuisine. The tour started with a walk through the market, where we tried several dishes, so be sure to come hungry. We then walked around the old section of the city, where our guides pointed out some temples and shared interesting facts around local culture and custom. They ended the tour dropping us at the Big Brother Mouse, which was a fantastic way to get acquainted with this local organization. As you continue refining this tour, I think less food could be offered (to differentiate from a true food tour) as it was quite a lot so early in the morning, or paced out more throughout the tour somehow. We had two guides with us, one who was still in training. As we do not speak Lao, we were very dependent on their English to understand the tour - most of the time this was okay, but can always be improved.
It was a fantastic experience - highly recommend it for both the good food and good company
It's an awesome experience. We learned a lot and the teachers were very simpathetic. The menu was delicious and cannit wait to be back home and cook it for my family and friends
What a fun and challenging experience. About 2 hours to create a silk lantern - just the right balance of trying and getting help from the expert. A great way to spend the morning and a really cool souvenir to take home. Highly recommend this activity!
